Overview We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to play a central role in the modernization of a complex production platform as it transitions from a monolithic architecture to scalable microservices. On the frontend side, this means evolving and re-architecting the user-facing layer to keep pace with a distributed backend — decomposing a legacy frontend, introducing modular and maintainable patterns, and making architectural decisions that hold up under real production complexity. This is a role for an engineer who thinks in systems and architecture, navigates ambiguity, and takes ownership of long-term technical direction rather than just shipping features. What You Will Do Lead the evolution of a complex production frontend, decomposing legacy structures into modular, scalable, and maintainable architectures. Contribute architectural expertise to platform-wide modernization efforts, aligning the frontend layer with a migration toward distributed, microservices-based systems. Architect and build high-performance applications, including Progressive Web Applications (PWAs), with a strong focus on maintainability and long-term technical direction. Lead frontend architecture and system design discussions, solving complex problems and making sound technical decisions in areas of ambiguity. Agile Collaboration: assist in grooming user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria, contribute to design discussions, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders. Maintain robust unit test coverage using Jest and enforce modern web development standards and best practices. What We Expect 5+ years of professional frontend software development experience. Solid experience with React.js, in the high complex coding environment. Proven experience with frontend modernization and migration work — framework migrations, modularization, micro-frontends, or decomposing legacy frontends into scalable architectures. Strong frontend architecture and system design skills, with the ability to take ownership and operate within complex, distributed systems. Advanced proficiency in HTML, CSS, Sass/Less, and responsive design techniques optimized for mobile web. Strong knowledge of browser performance engineering and frontend optimization strategies. Daily proficiency using AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, etc.) to accelerate delivery. Comfort navigating ambiguity and driving technical decisions with limited direction. Excellent written and spoken English. Ability to work full-time hours fully aligned with Pacific Standard Time (PST). Nice-to-have Expert-level Svelte proficiency. Experience with Node.js and building/consuming GraphQL servers (queries mutations). Practical experience building against WCAG accessibility standards and a strong awareness of web security. Familiarity with application monitoring tools (Datadog, New Relic) and CI/CD automated deployment pipelines.
