Claire, Consumer Goods and Retail Director, bringing retail magic to life everyday at BearingPoint!

As a Consumer Goods and Retail expert at BearingPoint, I get to work in the retail world everyday. Imagine bringing your years of industry expertise to help many retailers across the industry to transform their businesses in ways they never thought possible! I help provide retailers with the ingredient that helps then transform their customer experiences, streamline and optimise their operations, and boost their bottom line!

From leveraging cutting-edge technology to crafting innovative strategies, I support retailers in navigating the ever-evolving (and complex!) market landscape. Since joining BearingPoint I have had the opportunity to work on a vast array of retail projects, blending insights and solutions to help my clients thrive. Its been a great journey since I stepped out of industry into consulting and have thoroughly enjoyed the ride and adventure so far.

Like other colleagues who have shared their experiences, there is no ‘normal’ day at BearingPoint. The variety and scope of my role is such that I can be working on a series of retailer projects all with different challenges to resolve. Currently, I am working on a project helping to ensure a large retailer can deliver an optimised end-to-end supply chain operation. Whilst this is a large project, I love the opportunities this brings to engage with senior C-Suite level stakeholders on key insights to drive decision making that step change their business. In my role, stakeholder engagement is so important and everyone at BearingPoint recognises this though building and nurturing relationships.

As a working mother of two young children, my typical day can vary, however, I am continually supported to be at my best by BearingPoint.

In a usual day once the children are looked after, I always connect in with my team/s if on an active project. This is so important to understand the priorities for the day ahead, the plan and where our challenges are so we can work together to resolve. Colleague wellbeing is super important to me as a leader and it’s a great opportunity to check in and, in some cases, with client team colleagues too!

Focus on clients and serving their needs everyday is of primary focus as well as exploring new opportunities both within existing clients and new. This involves listening to client needs, preparing proposals, and engaging with my network across the industry. This leads to my other passion in my role – amazing, industry-leading thought leadership and getting this out there.

I love to spend time with my children who keep me grounded – sharing moments with them, whether that be shopping, dancing or horseriding, the future generations can teach us so much… as well as being the funniest humans on earth! I love to spend time travelling and learning about new cultures and retailing!

BearingPoint stood apart from all other consultancies – the way in which they describe the support to succeed together and the quality of the individuals striving to make a difference for clients… it’s just an awesome team to be part of. I have not stopped learning since joining and the practice offers such breadth of experience and a desire to support and guide.
