<p><strong style="font-size:15px;color:rgb(0,0,0);">Telecommunications Field Technician – Columbia, SC</strong><p><strong style="font-size:15px;color:rgb(0,0,0);">Overview</strong><p>A leading energy infrastructure organization is seeking an experienced <strong style="font-size:15px;">Telecommunications Field Technician</strong> to support operations across the <strong style="font-size:15px;">Charleston, SC</strong> region. This role is essential to maintaining and improving critical network, transport, and power systems that support outage response, service continuity, and regional reliability.<p>This is a long-term, stable contract for professionals who want hands-on experience with advanced telecom systems, fiber, transport networks, and field operations.</p><hr /><p><strong style="font-size:15px;color:rgb(0,0,0);">Top Required Skills</strong></p><ul><li>Working knowledge of <strong style="font-size:15px;">fiber circuits</strong>, <strong style="font-size:15px;">MPLS</strong>, and other LAN/WAN data transport circuits.</li><li>Skilled in <strong style="font-size:15px;">fiber termination</strong>, <strong style="font-size:15px;">cable installation</strong>, and <strong style="font-size:15px;">troubleshooting</strong> for a variety of cabling types.</li><li>Understanding of <strong style="font-size:15px;">fiber terminations</strong>, <strong style="font-size:15px;">data circuits</strong>, and <strong style="font-size:15px;">48V/135V DC power plant systems</strong>.</li><li>Experience with <strong style="font-size:15px;">DC power plants</strong>, <strong style="font-size:15px;">LAN and wireless testing</strong>, <strong style="font-size:15px;">fiber optic test equipment</strong>, and multiple cabling technologies.</li><li>Familiarity with <strong style="font-size:15px;">cable identification</strong>, <strong style="font-size:15px;">cable termination</strong>, and <strong style="font-size:15px;">Channel Banks</strong>.</li></ul><hr /><p><strong style="font-size:15px;color:rgb(0,0,0);">Nice-to-Have Skills</strong></p><ul><li>Electrical or electronic systems experience.</li><li>SCADA experience.</li><li>Strong professional communication skills, including technical writing.</li></ul><hr /><p><strong style="font-size:15px;color:rgb(0,0,0);">Position Responsibilities</strong><p>As a Telecommunications Field Technician, you will support installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrade activities across multiple telecommunication platforms. Responsibilities include:</p><ul><li>Installing and wiring <strong style="font-size:15px;">routers and switches</strong>, including coordination for configuration and troubleshooting across multiple teams.</li><li>Installing and provisioning <strong style="font-size:15px;">transport equipment</strong> and <strong style="font-size:15px;">Ethernet services</strong> supporting MPLS networks.</li><li>Conducting testing, deployment, and documentation activities associated with <strong style="font-size:15px;">system upgrades</strong>, patching, and scheduled maintenance windows.</li><li>Responding to <strong style="font-size:15px;">system and service outages</strong>, including emergency, storm, and disaster support.</li><li>Participating in <strong style="font-size:15px;">maintenance window cutovers</strong>, system grooming, and infrastructure modernization efforts.</li><li>Using proper tools, resources, and cross-team collaboration to develop solutions and approach complex field challenges methodically.</li></ul><hr /><p><strong style="font-size:15px;color:rgb(0,0,0);">Work Environment</strong></p><ul><li>Five days onsite.</li><li>Travel within approximately a <strong style="font-size:15px;">45‑minute radius</strong> of the Charleston-area base location.</li><li>Initial fieldwork paired with a fulltime technician using a company vehicle.
