Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Plant Operator with experience in terminal, pipeline or marine operations with a general knowledge of equipment and maintenance of tanks, pumps, meters, truck loading rack, and dock facility in the Oil & Gas Industry to join our growing team in St. Lucia. Role Summary: The Plant Operator role is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the terminal; responsible for overseeing the receipt, storage, inventory control and dispensing of petroleum products for the terminal location. Essential Duties & Responsibilities include: • Responsible for distribution, receiving and storage of petroleum products, via marine vessels, internal transfers, and truck rack operations. • Responsible for tank gauging, line boat operator and/or crew, dock crane operator, vessel mooring and line handling. • Handle lining manifolds for custody transfer and inventory control. Check manifolds to ensure they are lined up with the correct product for the next receipt. • Perform basic terminal inspections, maintenance and repairs and daily, monthly, and annual basis. Maintain tank inventories and pipeline volumes. • Monitor product deliveries and shipments, including product quality testing/sampling, quantity, timing etc. • Inspect, operate, and manage the Oily Water Sewer System including the operation of the API, Wemco Unit, Outfall, and Lagoon. • Complete paperwork associated with the successful operation of the terminal including, but not limited to, transfers, hazardous work permitting, work orders, barge and ship operations, truck rack loadings, etc. • Stay aware of all environmental regulations, safety directives and operating procedures so that the Company can assure compliance. Ensure that management is apprised of any area or issue that should be addressed regarding regulatory compliance including environmental, health and safety. • Respond to related emergencies when called upon to do so. Participate in annual emergency response training drills. • Member of Fire Brigade, Confined Space Rescue Team, and/or Oil Spill Response Group. • Support neighboring operations and assist in special projects as needed. Position Requirements: • Secondary school Diploma or equivalent required • Effective communication skills, verbal and written. • Must be able to work a 20-day rotating shift schedule, where work hours will be from •23:00 to 07:00 for 5 days, followed by two-day break. 15:00 to 23:00 for 5 days, followed by one day break. •07:00 to 15:00 for 5 days, followed by two-day break. • 2+ years related experience in terminal, pipeline, or marine operations preferred. Experience: • General knowledge or experience in the petroleum industry is preferred. Certificates & Licenses • Valid Driver’s license for manual vehicle at all times. Other Skills, Attributes and Abilities: • General knowledge of equipment and maintenance of pumps, meters, truck loading rack, and dock facility preferred. • General knowledge or experience in the petroleum industry is helpful. • Inventory control and/or accounting background a plus. • Basic computer skills required. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. • In order to be successful in this position, one must possess a strong mechanical aptitude and excellent analytical skills. • Good communication and problem-solving skills are also required. • This position requires someone who can work well under pressure and has a strong commitment to safety and teamwork. • Plant Operators work an 8-hour rotating shift including weekends and holidays. Working scheduled days off and extended shifts are required when requested by management. Physical & Safety Requirements: • Candidate must meet medical criteria for emergency response. • Position may require exposure to adverse weather conditions, hazardous environments and require the physical stamina to climb tanks, work long hours in the field and wearing a respirator.
