About the Role
Location: Medical Center - Fort Worth Department: Sterile Processing Shift: Varying Shifts (United States of America) Standard Weekly Hours: 40 Summary: Supervises personnel and participates in the activities of a sterile processing system Responsible for daily scheduling and human resource functions for direct reports. Interfaces with vendors and the operating room team to procure and maintain instruments and supplies. Responsible for decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembly and packaging of all reusable instruments and medical/surgical equipment as well as delivery of the same. Maintains adequate inventory for assembly of instruments and equipment. Performs multiple tasks that assist in the daily operation of all units as well as being responsible for customer service. Education and Experience: High school graduate or equivalent is required. Five years progressive experience as an instrument technician with a minimum of two years in a lead/leadership role is required. Must have a working knowledge of aseptic technique, proper sterilization procedures, decontamination and assembly procedures, OSHA, JCAHO, safety standards, hospital and departmental policies and procedures, generally as related to the Sterile Processing Department. Must have a working knowledge of surgical procedures, surgical instruments, sets and trays to include instruments, classification, disassembly, and cleaning procedure. Certification/Licensure: Current certification in Sterile Processing (IAHCSMM or CBSPD) required. AHA Heartsaver Certification required.
