About the Role

The Tübingen Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital are part of the University of Excellence Tübingen. They provide medical services at the highest level and cover the entire spectrum of modern medicine, research, teaching and clinical care The Faculty of Medicine invites applications for a position as a Full Professor (W3) in Public Health and Health Services Planning (f/m/d) available immediately. The position will be filled on a salaried basis unless the successful candidate is already a civil servant in Germany. The professorship will head the new Institute of Public Health (to be established). The professorship represents the discipline of public health in research, teaching and transfer, with a particular focus on the Public Health Service. Close collaboration with institutions of the Public Health Service in Baden-Württemberg (ÖGD BW), in particular the public health authorities and the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Integration, in the areas of teaching, research, and strategic development, is expected. The professorship is intended to contribute to an evidence-based and future-orientated development of the regional health planning and health care infrastructure and the public health service. The focus will be on qualitative and/or quantitative analyses and the design of healthcare structures at the municipal, regional and national levels. Equally central is the development, implementation and the evaluation of interventions in cooperation with the public health service. The active contribution to joint research projects on the intra- and inter-facultative levels is expected, e.g. by participating in the Center for Public Health Service and Health Service Research (ZÖGV) and in the cross-sectional area Health Service Research and Prevention. Furthermore, the close collaboration with public administration, politics, science and clinic is expected. The ideal candidate has a recognized profile in the field of public health, as demonstrated by nationally and internationally visible publications as well as the successful acquisition of competitive, ideally structurally-formative third-party funding. Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration is desirable. In the area of teaching, extensive and outstandingly evaluated teaching experience and commitment are expected, especially with regard to innovative curricula of the degree programs of the Faculty of Medicine as well as active participation in the design of lectures and other teaching formats under consideration of modern, evidence-based teaching methods. The teaching obligation is 9 hours per week during the semester. Prerequisites for employment are a relevant doctoral degree, a habitation (or equivalent) as well as proven teaching experience equivalent to the requirements of a full professorship. Additional relevant qualifications related to public health services, for example the specialist qualification in Public Health, are of advantage.
