Autism Support Assistant Swaffham

About the role:

Justteachers are currently seeking a committed and empathetic Autism Support Assistant to join a specialist education setting in Swaffham. This full-time role is available for an immediate start and offers a fantastic opportunity to work closely with pupils on the autism spectrum within a structured and supportive environment.

You will play a vital role in helping pupils access their education, develop communication and social skills, and build independence. This position is ideal for someone passionate about autism support and looking to make a meaningful difference in a specialist setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism
• Assist in delivering structured and engaging learning activities tailored to individual needs
• Support pupils with communication, social interaction, and sensory regulation
• Help create a calm, predictable, and structured learning environment
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and specialists to support pupil progress
• Encourage independence and confidence in daily activities

Pre-requisites:

• Experience working with children or young people with autism (highly desirable)
• A patient, understanding, and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations
• A proactive and flexible attitude to supporting diverse needs
• Two education or school based references
• Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN support are advantageous
