ABOUT THE JOB
We’re seeking a reliable and safety-focused Laborer / Serviceman to support maintenance and production activities across our plant. This entry-level role is critical to keeping operations running efficiently through hands-on work, cleanup, and maintenance tasks.
Job Responsibilities
WHAT YOU WILL GET TO DO
As a Laborer / Serviceman at Cemex, your daily responsibilities will include:
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety rules, wear PPE, and report equipment or safety concerns.
Physical Tasks: Perform trenching, digging, backfilling, shoveling, sweeping, and cleanup work.
Facility Support: Assist with maintenance work, concrete form building, painting, and general housekeeping.
Equipment Maintenance: Lubricate and oil equipment; support maintenance teams and respond to callouts.
Training & Participation: Attend meetings and training sessions. Support other classifications and plant outage work.
Additional Duties: Complete any tasks assigned by management to support plant operations.
Qualifications
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
To succeed in this role, you should bring:
Educational and Licensing Requirements: A high school diploma or GED is required.
Experience: Four years of general plant experience or six years of cement plant experience if joining from outside the company.
Skills: Proficiency in control systems and computer applications; strong communication skills; mechanical aptitude and ability to read diagrams; mathematical ability related to production measurements; strong decision-making and safety awareness.

Working Conditions
Safety First: Must comply with all safety standards and always wear appropriate PPE.
Dynamic Environment: Work in outdoor and indoor environments, with exposure to physical labor and harsh conditions (extreme heat, humidity, extreme cold, noise, dust).
Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, 50lbs frequently, 20lbs. constantly), climbing, standing, shoveling, walking, pushing, pulling, and operating tools and mobile equipment to a significant degree in physically intense settings. Must be physically able to perform all essential job functions, including the ability to communicate verbally using a phone and radio, to hear verbal commands and audible alarms in order to safely operate around large mobile equipment and automatic conveyor belt systems. Must be able to pass a physical exam to include back x-ray, vision test, hearing test, functional capability evaluation, respiratory fit test and drug / alcohol screen.
Work Schedule: Employees are expected to work varying shifts as needed, which may include early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays to meet operational needs.
