About the Role
Justteachers is seeking a dedicated, compassionate and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary SEND provision in the Bradford area. This full-time role is to start in September, with shortlisting currently taking place- this will be a permanent long term placement for the successful applicant. This welcoming and inclusive setting supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and learning disabilities. Key Responsibilities Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND needs Supporting pupils to access learning both in and out of the classroom Encouraging communication, social interaction and emotional regulation Assisting with personalised learning plans and EHCP targets Promoting positive behaviour through consistent and supportive strategies Supporting pupils during transitions, breaktimes and wider school activities Working collaboratively with teachers, SEND professionals and pastoral staff Contributing to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing processes Pre-requisites: Experience supporting children or young people with SEND needs A patient, nurturing and adaptable approach Strong communication and relationship-building skills Understanding of autism, communication needs or SEMH (desirable) Ability to work effectively as part of a team Relevant education, care or support work experience Two professional references from an educational or care-based setting This Role Is Ideal For Someone Who: Is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs Enjoys building positive and meaningful relationships Thrives in a supportive and collaborative school environment Wants to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people Is looking to develop a long-term career within SEND education
