<strong>Bounty Description</strong><br /> Industry: Medical Equipment / Devices<br /> Job Category: Engineering - Environmental and Geological Engineering <h2><i><i><i>Please carefully review the position requirements before submitting a potential candidate for consideration.</i></i></i></h2> <p> </p> <p><b>Job Responsibilities</b></p> <p> </p> <p>The Environmental, Health &amp; Safety (EHS) Site Leader (JG5) is responsible for <b>strategic and operational leadership of all site Environmental, Health, and Safety programs</b>, ensuring <b>full and sustained compliance with all applicable local, state, federal, and BD corporate regulatory requirements</b>.</p> <p> </p> <p>This role serves as the <b>senior site authority and subject matter expert (SME)</b> for EH&amp;S and is accountable for establishing a <b>robust safety culture, regulatory excellence, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement</b> across the site. The EHS Site Leader partners with site and enterprise leadership to integrate EH&amp;S requirements into business strategy, plant management systems, and daily operations, with a strong focus on <b>injury prevention, environmental stewardship, and operational resilience</b>.</p> <p> </p> <p>The position requires demonstrated ability to <b>lead leaders, manage and develop EH&amp;S organizations, influence executive stakeholders, and represent the site with regulatory agencies and corporate governance bodies</b>.</p> <p> </p> <p><i>(Primary Duties, Roles, and/or Authorities)</i></p> <p>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provide <b>senior leadership and governance</b> for all site EH&amp;S programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulatory entities, as well as BD corporate policies, standards, and management systems.</p> </li> <li> <p>Serve as the <b>site’s primary EH&amp;S authority and regulatory representative</b>, leading interactions with external regulatory agencies and corporate governance teams.</p> </li> <li> <p>Lead, manage, and develop the <b>site EH&amp;S organization</b>, including succession planning, capability development, performance management, and alignment with BD people‑leadership expectations.</p> </li> <li> <p>Establish and execute <b>site EH&amp;S strategy and multi‑year improvement plans</b>, aligned with business objectives and enterprise EH&amp;S priorities.</p> </li> <li> <p>Integrate EH&amp;S requirements into the <b>plant management system</b>, ensuring risk‑based decision‑making is embedded into operations, engineering, and capital planning.</p> </li> <li> <p>Provide expert oversight of <b>environmental compliance programs</b>, including air, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste, chemical management, and all required permitting and reporting.</p> </li> <li> <p>Ensure all environmental permits, licenses, inspections, and regulatory submissions are accurate, timely, and defensible.</p> </li> <li> <p>Oversee <b>occupational safety, industrial hygiene, emergency response, and contractor safety programs</b>, ensuring risks are proactively identified and mitigated.</p> </li> <li> <p>Provide executive‑level oversight of <b>occupational health programs</b>, including medical surveillance, workers’ compensation, wellness initiatives, and PHI compliance.</p> </li> <li> <p>Lead investigations of significant EH&amp;S incidents, regulatory findings, and near‑miss events; ensure effective root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions.</p> </li> <li> <p>Sponsor and oversee <b>internal and external audits</b>, including regulatory inspections and ISO‑based assessments, ensuring closure of findings and systemic improvements.</p> </li> <li> <p>Establish and monitor <b>leading and lagging EH&amp;S performance metrics</b>, using data and analytics to drive continuous improvement and risk reduction.</p> </li> <li> <p>Champion a <b>strong safety culture</b>, influencing leaders and associates to demonstrate visible ownership and accountability for EH&amp;S performance.</p> </li> <li> <p>Support enterprise EH&amp;S initiatives, best‑practice sharing, and cross‑site collaboration.</p> </li> <li> <p>Other duties as required to support the needs of the business.</p> </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><b>Education and Experience</b></p> <p><b>Minimum Education:</b></p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health &amp; Safety, Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical), Industrial Hygiene, or a related technical discipline.</p> </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><b>Preferred:</b></p> <ul> <li> <p>Advanced or professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent.</p> </li> <li> <p>ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 lead auditor experience.</p> </li> <li> <p>Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.</p> </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><b>Minimum Experience:</b></p> <ul> <li> <p><b>8–10 years</b> of progressive EH&amp;S experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.</p> </li> <li> <p>Demonstrated experience <b>leading EH&amp;S teams and influencing senior site leadership</b>.</p> </li> <li> <p>Proven experience managing complex regulatory programs and agency interactions.</p> </li> <li> <p>Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, chemical, or similarly regulated industries preferred.</p> </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><b>Basic Knowledge and Skills</b></p> <p><b>Proficient / Working Knowledge:</b></p> <ul> <li> <p>EH&amp;S regulatory compliance and management systems</p> </li> <li> <p>Environmental permitting and reporting</p> </li> <li> <p>Continuous improvement methodologies</p> </li> <li> <p>Data analysis and performance metrics</p> </li> <li> <p>Training strategy and delivery</p> </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><b>Advanced / Specialized Skills:</b></p> <ul> <li> <p>Senior leadership and organizational development</p> </li> <li> <p>Executive‑level communication and influence</p> </li> <li> <p>Regulatory interpretation and risk governance</p> </li> <li> <p>Incident investigation and systemic risk mitigation</p> </li> <li> <p>Strategic planning and program management</p> </li> <li> <p>Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making capabilities</p> </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><b>Physical Capacity Profile</b></p> <p> </p> <p>Ability to climb stairs of varying heights</p> <p>Ability to swat</p> <p>Ability to extend arms directly in front and overhead</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><b><b>For additional details regarding submission eligibility and payment terms, please refer to your contract.
