About the Role
Ambition is working with a well‑established, forward‑thinking accountancy firm in London to recruit an Audit and Accounts Manager. This firm is known for delivering high‑quality audit, tax and advisory services to a diverse SME client base and for fostering a supportive, people‑first culture.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced audit professional to take ownership of audit engagements, lead and develop a team, and play a key role in the growth of the audit practice.
The Role
As Audit Manager, you will lead audit engagements from planning through to completion, manage client relationships, and mentor a high‑performing audit team. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders, ensuring audits are delivered to a high technical standard while adding genuine value to clients.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, manage, coach and develop an audit team to deliver high‑quality work
Oversee all stages of audit engagements, ensuring compliance with regulatory and professional standards
Review audit files and maintain consistently high technical and professional standards
Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on audit, risk and financial reporting
Tailor audit programmes to reflect clients' business needs and risk profiles
Contribute to the growth of the audit practice, including proposal work and new client opportunities
Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. HR, IT, Marketing) to improve systems and working processes
Support and mentor team members, promoting continuous learning and development
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
Strong background in external audit within practice
Proven experience managing a portfolio of SME audit clients, and delivering multiple engagements
Confident client relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills
Experience with audit and accounting software such as Inflo, CaseWare, Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, Alphatax or CCH is desirable
