About the Role
<strong>Reviews Officer (Homelessness)</strong><br><strong>Location:</strong> East London<br><strong>Pay Rate:</strong> <strong>£32.00 - £35.00 per hour Umbrella</strong> (depending on experience)<br><strong>Contract:</strong> 3-6 Month Contract<br><strong>Hours:</strong> Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm<br><strong>Working Pattern:</strong> Hybrid – 1-2 Days in the Office<br><strong>Interviews:</strong> <strong>In Person Only</strong><br><br>Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Conduct statutory <strong>Section 202 homelessness reviews</strong> under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.</li><li>Review decisions relating to duty owed, suitability of accommodation, priority need, intentional homelessness and local connection.</li><li>Make offers of accommodation under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996, including Temporary Accommodation and accommodation to discharge the Relief Duty or Section 193(2) duty.</li><li>Apply the Homelessness Code of Guidance, Review Regulations and relevant case law.</li><li>Produce clear, legally defensible review decision letters within statutory deadlines.</li><li>Carry out detailed investigations and assess complex housing cases.</li><li>Work collaboratively with Housing Options, Accommodation Placements, Legal Services and external partners.</li><li>Monitor compliance and contribute to continuous service improvements.</li><li>Build effective working relationships across internal departments and stakeholders.</li></ul>Essential Requirements<strong>Candidates must have:</strong><br><ul><li><strong>Experience conducting reviews under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996.</strong></li><li><strong>Experience making offers of accommodation under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996</strong>, including Temporary Accommodation or accommodation to end the Relief Duty or the duty under <strong>Section 193(2)</strong>.</li><li><strong>Experience managing Accommodation Placement Teams.</strong></li><li>A minimum of <strong>3 years' experience</strong> working within homelessness or housing services.</li><li>Previous experience working within a <strong>London Local Authority</strong>.</li><li>Strong knowledge of the <strong>Housing Act 1996</strong>, <strong>Homelessness Reduction Act 2017</strong>, relevant case law and homelessness legislation.</li><li>Excellent investigation, report writing and decision letter drafting skills.</li><li>The ability to manage complex casework and work to statutory deadlines.</li><li>Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.</li></ul><br><strong>Please note:</strong> Interviews will be held <strong>in person only</strong>.
