Your first teaching role… in a school where every small win matters
Just finished your PGCE and thinking about going into SEND?
It’s a big step, but it’s also one of the most rewarding paths you can take. And the right school makes all the difference.
Not sure which setting suits you best yet? That’s completely fine. Whether it’s ASD, SEMH, or a more complex needs environment, we’ll help you explore your options and find a school where you feel confident, supported, and ready to grow.
We’re working with a range of brilliant SEND schools across Bristol, all of which genuinely support Early Career Teachers. You won’t be left to figure things out alone. You’ll be guided, backed, and part of a team that’s completely in it together.
What you’ll be walking into:
A calm, nurturing environment where relationships come first
A supportive SLT who understand the realities of SEND classrooms
A dedicated ECT mentor and regular check-ins
Small class sizes with strong TA support
A team that celebrates progress in all its forms, big or small
What your role will look like:
Teaching a class of pupils with additional needs, including autism and SEMH
Creating structured, engaging lessons tailored to individual learners
Building trust and consistency with pupils who need it most
Working closely with TAs, SENCOs, and therapists
Learning how to adapt, respond, and grow your confidence every day
What you’ll need:
UK QTS (or pending from your PGCE)
A calm, patient approach and a willingness to learn
Genuine interest in SEND and inclusive education
Resilience, empathy, and a good sense of humour
