You prepare food according to prescribed resident diet specifications, community procedures, and food safety and sanitation regulations under the supervision of the Food Service Director. You support the overall dining experience by assisting with meal preparation, service, and cleanup while following all health, sanitary, and infection control policies and maintaining established dietary standards of practice.<p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Prepare and cook food in accordance with prescribed resident diet specifications, community procedures, and dietary policies and procedures.</li><li>Follow all health, sanitary, and infection control policies to maintain a safe and hygienic food service environment.</li><li>Assist team members with preparing and cooking meals for residents and patients in the facility.</li><li>Organize and adjust tables and dining areas, ensuring cleanliness, accessibility, and ease of use for residents.</li><li>Deliver meals and food trays to residents and patients at predetermined times, ensuring timely and accurate service.</li><li>Maintain clean and orderly food stations, including buffets and special event setups.</li><li>Discard trash and remove waste promptly after scheduled dining times to maintain a clean environment.</li><li>Monitor pantry and kitchen stock levels and inform management when items are running low or need reordering.</li><li>Assist the kitchen manager in creating menus that align with budget guidelines and resident dietary requirements.</li><li>Operate and care for kitchen cookware, appliances, and equipment safely and correctly.</li><li>Support large-scale meal and catering preparation by working effectively with the kitchen team.</li><li>Perform other duties as directed by representatives of the community or Food Service Director.</li></ul><p><strong>Essential Skills</strong></p><ul><li>Experience in food service, food preparation, or line cook roles, preferably serving large groups of people.</li><li>Knowledge of food safety, food sanitation, and infection control practices in a kitchen environment.</li><li>Basic understanding of kitchen cookware, appliances, and standard food production processes.</li><li>Ability to provide courteous, customer service–oriented support to residents, patients, and visitors.</li><li>Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with kitchen staff and other team members.</li><li>Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods.</li><li>Ability to lift and transport heavy trays, carts, and supplies as needed.</li><li>Flexibility in availability, including the ability to work some weekends and holidays.</li><li>Ability to follow established dietary policies, procedures, and resident diet specifications accurately.</li></ul><p><strong>Additional Skills & Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Experience working in a medical, assisted living, rehabilitation, or similar healthcare environment is preferred.</li><li>Experience in customer service or hospitality is preferred.</li><li>Professional certification in food sanitation may be required depending on state regulations.</li><li>Experience in tray line service and large-scale food production is beneficial.</li><li>Strong attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness and organization in dining and kitchen areas.</li><li>Ability to assist with menu planning within budget and dietary requirements.</li><li>Reliability and punctuality to support scheduled meal times and consistent resident service.</li></ul><p><strong>Why Work Here?</strong><p>You join a team that invests in your well-being, growth, and long-term stability. You work in a fast-paced kitchen and dining environment that requires frequent standing, walking, lifting, and transporting trays and carts. The setting emphasizes cleanliness, safety, and adherence to food safety and infection control standards while serving residents and patients in a healthcare-related environment.</p><strong>Job Type & Location</strong><p>This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greensburg, PA.</p><strong>Pay and Benefits</strong><p>The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00/hr.<p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
