Accountant - Belfast An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the public sector in Belfast as an Accountant. In this role, you will support the delivery of financial services, assisting with accounting processes, financial reporting, and budget monitoring to ensure effective financial management across the organisation.    About the role:  £24.45 per hour Belfast HQ, Knockbracken 37.5 hours a week Temporary, approximately 6 months Please note closing date for this vacancy is 20th March 2026 at 12 noon - however you can register your interest for other upcoming vacancies by applying today. What you'll be doing in this role: Provide specialist financial support to Senior Managers and budget holders to ensure effective financial management. Lead on the development of business cases and service development proposals, ensuring robust financial analysis and costing. Investigate variances, assess financial risks and support the development of corrective actions. Support financial planning processes including Trust financial plans, monthly reporting and monitoring returns. Contribute to strategic planning across the Trust, identifying interdependencies and impacts on financial position. Assist with annual budget setting, budgetary control, monitoring and reporting.  Provide financial training, advice and interpretation to budget holders and non-finance managers. Assist with the preparation and delivery of the annual financial statements, including revenue, capital and charitable funds accounts. What you'll need for this role: Minimum of 1 year’s finance experience following successful completion of final professional accountancy exams (dated from notification by institute of completion) Successfully demonstrated people management, governance, leadership and organisational skills for a minimum of 2 years. Full membership of one of the five professional accounting institutes within the CCAB or CIMA; Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post   Have extensive working knowledge of ICT systems to include Microsoft Office, in particular having advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Knowledge of Health and Social Care Northern Ireland Knowledge and understanding of the key finance issues within Health and Social Care
