About the Role
<p>Planning Officer (Development Management) Core Responsibilities – Application Assessment: Process, evaluate, and make recommendations on planning applications, listed building consents, householder planning applications, prior approvals and lawful development certificates. – Negotiation & Site Visits: Conduct site visits and negotiate with developers to amend plans (where appropriate), ensuring high quality design and adherence to regulations. – Pre-application Advice: Provide professional advice to residents, agents, and developers regarding the feasibility of proposals. – Report Writing & Committee Attendance: Prepare detailed officer reports and present recommendations to the Planning Committee. – Planning Policy & Law: Ensure compliance with the Local Plan and National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). – Appeals: Handle planning appeals (where appropriate) Key Skills & Requirements – Qualifications: A degree in Town Planning or related discipline – Technical Knowledge: Understanding of planning legislation and policies. – Communication: Strong negotiation skills, report writing abilities, and ability to handle confrontational situations. – Case Management: Ability to manage a high-volume, diverse caseload within strict statutory timelines</p>
