Senior QA Automation Engineer (Playwright)

Working Pattern: 100% Remote
Contract Length: Initial 3 months with strong extension potential
We are seeking an experienced Senior QA Automation Engineer to join a high-profile project with a global pharmaceutical organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-sufficient QA professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys building testing frameworks from the ground up, and can confidently work with limited documentation.
The Role:
As the Senior QA Automation Engineer, you will take ownership of the quality assurance approach across a React-based web application, helping to establish robust automated testing practices and CI/CD processes while working closely with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain automated UI tests for a React web application using Playwright
- Develop and maintain automated REST API tests
- Configure and manage test automation pipelines within GitHub Actions
- Define and drive the QA strategy independently in an evolving environment
- Clearly communicate testing progress, coverage, and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities to improve product quality
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong commercial experience in UI and API test automation
- Hands-on expertise with Playwright
- Solid experience testing REST APIs
- Practical knowledge of GitHub Actions and CI/CD best practices
- Senior-level capability with a proactive, self-starting mindset
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and limited documentation
- Excellent communication skills with fluent spoken and written English
Nice to Have:
- Basic knowledge or exposure to Databricks
