About the Role

Airfield Engineering technician   Reports to Airfield Engineering Manager & team leader Airfield Engineering team London Stansted Airport Permanent, full time position  4 on / 4 off  - 2 days  / 2 nights shift pattern, covering 7 days per week. 0600 – 1800 / 1800 - 0600 shifts.  Salary starts at £48,735, rising with experience. Plus 17.5% shift pay Please ensure your CV and /or covering letter details the skills, experience and qualifications you have for this role.     The role    To enable the delivery of a high-quality, reliable service to passengers, tenants and other internal/external customers, through effective and efficient maintenance of airports assets. This includes completion of work in accordance with prevailing MAG processes & contributing towards the continuous improvement of the maintenance service. •    Undertake planned or reactive maintenance work ensuring optimum serviceability which meets agreed service levels and provides a trouble-free operational environment, applying the skills and knowledge required for the task.  This includes inspecting assets which are not working as needed, assessing & reporting what work is required and undertaking that work. •    Carry out tasks which require in-depth technical competence in Airfield engineering or minor work in other disciplines which you have the skills to do. •    Liaising with the Airfield Engineering Manager & Lead Technicians where required.  •    Use prevailing MAG IT and work management systems (for example Maximo) as required.  This includes receiving & closing work orders and entering accurate data. Use maintenance system data to understand individual, team & asset performance. •    Ensure that all engineering and operating records are updated to meet business, regulatory & manufacturer requirements. •    Operate and promote working practices which ensure a safe working environment for self and others, contributing to the development of a safety culture and adhering to mandatory regulations & safety procedures. •    Engage proactively in any work associated with delivering performance improvements within the engineering environment. •    Communicate effectively with customers and maintenance team colleagues on the progress of completing work. •    Work with others, including colleagues or apprentices on a one-to-one basis to help them learn. •    Proactively upgrade skills to facilitate the maintenance and operation of new assets being delivered into service to ensure that they are maintained in a manner which keeps them performing at an appropriate level.   What will make you successful in this role?   •    Full UK driving licence •    Relevant City and Guilds qualifications •    ONC/HNC Electrical Engineering •    Relevant Airfield Engineering experience •    Full and assessed knowledge of any relevant National or MAG regulations or standards •    Full and assessed knowledge of ESRs up to and including Approved Person (Electrical).  •    Completion of relevant & related skills training to become a Safety Critical Worker •    Meets the requirements of the competence assessment process •    Scheduling, prioritising, organising and managing self and/or teams to ensure results are successfully delivered.   •    Reviewing and then implementing what is learned •    Enthusiastic and motivated, focusing on achieving results and a standard of excellence.  Having a clear sense of direction, persistent in pursuing goals, maintaining focus despite obstacles and setbacks •    Detailed working familiarity with all aspects of Maximo which supports work scheduling, resource scheduling, resource competencies etc. •    An outline knowledge of other aspects of Maximo and its interfaces with related systems such as MALMS and RMS •    Able to demonstrate that through formal training/apprenticeship or practical experience, they are able to effectively carry out the task required of the role in the airport. •    Capable of undertaking effectively Electrical/Mechanical maintenance tasks such as those scheduled in the prevailing MAG apprenticeship scheme.
