About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced, people‑driven General Manager to take full ownership of a Premium Student Accommodation development in London. This is a high‑impact leadership role where you’ll oversee day‑to‑day operations, lead and develop a high‑performing team, and deliver an exceptional resident experience in a fast‑paced, premium living environment.

You’ll be fully accountable for the operational and financial performance of the property, acting as the senior on‑site presence and working closely with internal stakeholders, partners and local communities.

 

Location: London

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday

 

What you’ll be doing

As General Manager, you will:

  • Lead and oversee all day‑to‑day site operations
  • Take full ownership of the property’s financial performance, including P&L responsibility
  • Build, inspire and manage a motivated, customer‑focused team
  • Deliver an outstanding, personalised resident experience and maintain high wellbeing standards
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety and risk management requirements
  • Manage staffing levels to ensure 24/7 building coverage where required
  • Oversee front‑of‑house operations, payments, reporting and procedures
  • Recruit, train and develop team members in line with HR policies
  • Handle performance management, conflict resolution and staff engagement proactively
  • Manage complaints professionally, ensuring timely resolution and accurate reporting
  • Support rent collection processes and work closely with finance teams
  • Oversee procurement, stock control and soft FM services to ensure value for money
  • Lead successful site turnovers and play a key role in quarterly site meetings
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with university partners, local stakeholders and authorities
  • Act as an on‑call leader as part of a rota and step in operationally when needed

This is a hands‑on role, ideal for someone who enjoys being visible, engaged and involved across all areas of the operation.

 

What we’re looking for

  • Proven leadership experience managing operational teams, ideally within PBSA, BTR, hospitality, residential living or a customer‑focused environment
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with confidence owning budgets and P&L
  • A flexible, proactive and hands‑on leadership style
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
  • A natural problem‑solver with strong organisational and time‑management skills
  • Passion for delivering exceptional customer and resident experiences
  • Approachable, professional and comfortable supporting a diverse, international community
  • Detail‑focused, resilient and adaptable in a fast‑changing environment
  • Relevant qualifications are an advantage
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, including overnight stays if required
