About the Role
The Director of Accounting will lead an accounting management team, directly supervise two Controllers that oversee a staff of 20 accountants, and partner closely with the SVP of Financial Operations on strategic initiatives, operational improvements, and departmental direction. This is far more than a traditional “close the books” accounting role. The company is looking for someone who can: • Lead and develop high-performing accounting teams • Drive accountability, operational efficiency, and process improvement • Standardize workflows and improve reporting through data and analytics • Navigate complex financial conversations with boards and leadership teams • Serve as a technical accounting resource across the organization • Help scale systems, controls, reporting, and accounting operations • Partner cross-functionally with operations, IT, training, and business development teams Additional areas of responsibility include: ✔ Oversight of monthly financial reporting and reviews ✔ Managing complex multi-entity accounting environments ✔ Supporting audits, internal controls, and SSAE-18 / SOC compliance ✔ Leading accounting integrations for acquisitions ✔ Developing KPIs, dashboards, and departmental metrics ✔ Driving technology enhancements and accounting system improvements ✔ Coaching and mentoring Controllers and accounting staff Ideal background: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting • 5+ years of accounting leadership experience • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise • Advanced Excel skills including Power Query, macros, pivot tables, and large data analysis • Experience leading teams • CPA preferred The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking accounting leader who thrives in high-volume environments, enjoys solving operational challenges, and knows how to elevate both people and processes.
