About the Role
<strong>Sewing Machinist</strong><br><strong>Pay:</strong> £12.71 - £13.50 per hour (depending on experience)<br><strong>Hours of Work: </strong>Monday to Friday- 8am to 2.30pm<br><br>We are currently recruiting for an experienced <strong>Sewing Machinist</strong> to join a busy manufacturing team producing high-quality upholstered furniture. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has excellent attention to detail, and enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment. Successful candidate will have previous experience using industrial sewing machines and be confident sewing a range of upholstery fabrics and materials to a consistently high standard. Experience within the furniture or upholstery industry is highly desirable, although candidates with strong industrial sewing experience from other manufacturing sectors will also be considered.<br><br><br><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong><br><ul><li>Operate a range of industrial sewing machines safely and efficiently.</li><ul><li>Sew fabric, leather, and other upholstery materials to production specifications.</li><li>Assemble and stitch furniture covers and upholstery components with precision.</li><li>Read and interpret production drawings, patterns, and work instructions.</li><li>Carry out quality checks throughout the sewing process to ensure products meet company standards.</li><li>Identify and report any material defects or quality concerns.</li><li>Work closely with upholsterers and other production team members to ensure smooth workflow.</li><li>Meet daily production targets while maintaining exceptional quality.</li><li>Perform basic machine maintenance, including cleaning and changing needles where required.</li><li>Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area in line with health and safety procedures.</li></ul></ul><strong>Requirements:</strong><br><ul><li>Previous experience operating industrial sewing machines is essential.</li><ul><li>Experience sewing upholstery, furniture, or heavy-duty fabrics is preferred.</li><li>Furniture manufacturing experience is highly advantageous.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality workmanship.</li><li>Ability to work from patterns, measurements, and production instructions.</li><li>Good hand-eye coordination and excellent manual dexterity.</li><li>Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.</li><li>Reliable, hardworking, and able to work efficiently to production deadlines.</li><li>Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.</li></ul></ul><strong>What We Offer:</strong><br><br><ul><li>Competitive hourly rate of <strong>£12.71 - £13.50</strong>, depending on experience.</li><ul><li>Stable, long-term employment within a well-established manufacturing environment.</li><li>Supportive team environment.</li><li>Weekly Pay</li></ul></ul><br>If you have industrial sewing experience and take pride in producing quality work, we'd love to hear from you.
