About the Role
Position Purpose
This role focuses on technical financial accounting, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and IFRS, managing external audits, and preparing accurate financial statements. The position is critical for maintaining strong internal controls and supporting statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
Support and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and IFRS
Manage external audit process and liaise with auditors
Maintain and enforce accounting policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with corporate governance and internal control frameworks
Support tax compliance and reporting
Assist VP Finance with technical accounting issues and complex transactions
Assist VP Finance with Board management and Corporate Governance
Provide guidance on accounting standards and regulatory changes
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or relevant discipline
8+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation
Proficient with US GAAP
Knowledge of IFRS is an asset
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is an asset
Skills
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Skill in presenting information clearly and in a tactful manner
Skill in problem solving and establishing collaborative relationships
Strong working knowledge of Sage 300, Microsoft Office, and internal control systems
Ability to work independently as well as take direction from supervisor
Ability to be flexible with time and methods and adaptable to change
Ability to multi‑task and prioritize duties and tasks
Ability to work in a confidential manner
Ability to exercise good judgement
Experience
A minimum of 8 years' work experience in various areas of accounting and finance, including managerial experience, establishing internal controls, financial reporting, corporate tax preparation, payroll, and budgeting.
Working Conditions
In‑office position based in Anchorage, Alaska
Standard business hours; rare evening or weekend work
Prolonged periods working at a desk/computer
Must be able to move up to 15 pounds (supplies, equipment, gear)
