About the Role

About the role:

Justteachers are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Norwich that is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and committed Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide high-quality classroom support, helping students access learning, develop confidence, and succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support classroom teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons across the secondary curriculum.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students to help them access learning and achieve their individual goals.
  • Assist students with a range of learning needs, adapting support to suit individual abilities where required.
  • Encourage student confidence, independence, and engagement within the classroom.
  • Support students with additional learning needs, including SEND where appropriate.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes participation and achievement.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support students’ emotional wellbeing in line with the school’s behaviour policy.
  • Assist with the preparation of classroom resources and learning activities.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers to support ongoing assessment.
  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, carers, and colleagues.
  • Support students during breaktimes, educational visits, and extracurricular activities where appropriate.
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and supportive learning environment.
  • Promote safeguarding and the welfare of all students at all times.
  • Uphold the school’s values and commitment to delivering high-quality education.

Pre-requisites:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or educational setting is desirable.
  • Experience supporting secondary-aged students or pupils with SEND is advantageous.
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is beneficial but not essential.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people’s learning and development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative when required.
  • A patient, flexible, and proactive approach to supporting students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Two recent education-based references.
