Tool Designer/Tooling Engineer

Marietta, GA

$3,320.00/Weekly

Excess of 40 Hours Per Week: $90.30/Hour

 

 

The Senior Tool Designer/Tooling Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, optimization, and lifecycle management of manufacturing tooling in a high-complexity aircraft environment. This role provides technical leadership across tool design and continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of complex tools, molds, jigs, and fixtures used in the manufacturing process
  • Create tool design concepts based on written tool requirements
  • Ability to review and modify existing tool designs
  • Assist with root-cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring tooling and production issues
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase tool life, reliability, and efficiency
  • Work with tooling suppliers to support the manufacture of tools you have designed
  • Assist in tool trials, validation, and production readiness
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements
  • Previous Lockheed Martin tooling experience a plus, but not required
  • 100% onsite support required at the Lockheed Marietta, GA facility
  • Must be able to walk extended distance to shop floor as required
  • Must be able to climb multiple sets of stairs as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent years of experience
  • Minimum of 15 years of Aircraft or Aerospace tooling experience
  • Advanced knowledge of tooling design, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Strong proficiency in Catia version 5 software and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience in problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and process optimization
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
