Do you want to play a key role in enabling engaging, safe, and effective science lessons for students?Tradewind Recruitment is working with a well-regarded secondary school in Harrow seeking a Science Technician to join their team from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within the science department, supporting teachers and students while helping to ensure the smooth running of laboratory-based lessons.Science Technician - Role OverviewAs a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality science education. You will work closely with teaching staff to prepare resources, maintain equipment, and ensure a safe and well-organised laboratory environment. Your responsibilities will include:Preparing and setting up equipment and materials for practical science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)Assisting teachers during practical sessions where requiredCleaning, maintaining, and storing laboratory equipment safely and correctlyPreparing chemical solutions and managing stock levels of resources and consumablesEnsuring compliance with health and safety procedures, including COSHH regulationsSupporting the organisation and upkeep of laboratories and prep roomsCarrying out risk assessments and helping to ensure safe practical workManaging the safe disposal of waste materials in line with school policiesSupporting the science department with general administrative and technical tasksMaintaining accurate records of equipment, stock, and experimentsRequirementsPrevious experience in a laboratory, school, or technical environment (desirable but not essential)A strong interest in science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics background desirable)Good understanding of health and safety procedures in a lab setting (training can be provided)Excellent organisational skills and attention to detailAbility to work independently and as part of a teamCalm, reliable, and proactive approach to workStrong communication skillsEnhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)What's on OfferA supportive and well-resourced secondary school in HarrowFull-time role: Monday to Friday, term-time onlyOpportunity to work within a dynamic science departmentOngoing training and professional development opportunitiesPotential for a long-term or permanent positionHow to ApplyIf you are organised, practical, and ready to support engaging science lessons from September 2026, we would love to hear from you.For more information, please contact Elizabeth Topley at elizabeth.topley@twrecruitment.com or call 0207 845 5450 (option 3).
