SEND HLTA - Bury

About the role:

We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and experienced SEND Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist SEND setting in Bury on a full-time, long-term basis for the full academic year starting in September. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate HLTA who is committed to supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support learning, deliver targeted interventions, and help create a positive, inclusive environment where every pupil can achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver planned learning activities and interventions to individuals and small groups of pupils with SEND.
• Support teachers with lesson delivery, classroom management, and pupil progress.
• Lead learning sessions when required and provide classroom cover in the absence of the teacher.
• Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
• Promote positive behaviour and support pupils’ social, emotional, and academic development.

 

Pre-requisites:

• HLTA qualification or significant experience in a similar role within an educational setting.
• Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt learning activities to meet a range of individual needs.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
