SENIOR CAPITAL BUYERContractNovi, MI$45-52/hr. Summary:The Senior Capital Buyer independently manages the sourcing, procurement, and commercial activities associated with capital equipment, tooling, facilities, automation, and infrastructure investments. This role supports Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and Program teams through strategic sourcing, supplier management, cost analysis, and project execution while providing procurement expertise and commercial guidance throughout the capital investment process. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Lead sourcing activities for high-complexity capital equipment, tooling, automation, facilities, and infrastructure projects.Develop and execute sourcing strategies for capital expenditures (CapEx) using competitive sourcing, market testing, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE), and total cost of ownership analysis.Lead supplier evaluations, bid analyses, commercial negotiations, and contract development while identifying cost-saving opportunities and negotiating competitive pricing and terms.Support Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Facilities, and Program teams throughout equipment specification, supplier selection, project implementation, equipment acceptance, and launch activities.Conduct supplier capability assessments, commercial evaluations, and capacity reviews to support sourcing decisions and project execution.Negotiate engineering changes, scope modifications, and project-related commercial impacts throughout installation and launch phases.Support capital appropriation requests by developing cost estimates, sourcing strategies, supplier recommendations, and business case presentations.Maintain supplier contracts, capital expenditure records, project savings, and supporting procurement documentation.Drive continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives related to manufacturing equipment, facilities, and automation investments.Support supplier performance management and ensure compliance with company purchasing policies, financial controls, ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949, Standard Operating Procedure 8000, and organizational health, safety, environmental, and sustainability requirements.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Five (5) years of purchasing, strategic sourcing, or capital procurement experience in a manufacturing and/or engineering environment.Knowledge of capital equipment, automation systems, tooling, facilities projects, and industrial manufacturing processes.Experience with competitive bidding, supplier evaluations, contract negotiation, and supplier management.Strong understanding of capital project management, procurement processes, and cost reduction methodologies, including Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE).Ability to analyze equipment quotations, project budgets, supplier proposals, and total cost of ownership.Ability to interpret equipment specifications, technical drawings, statements of work, and project schedules.Strong financial, analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.Working knowledge of APQP, manufacturing systems, automation technologies, and industrial equipment procurement.Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, project management, and database applications.Preferred Competencies:Capital Equipment SourcingManufacturing Automation ProcurementFacilities & Infrastructure SourcingContract NegotiationProject ManagementSupplier DevelopmentCost Modeling & Financial AnalysisInvestment Justification & ROI AnalysisRisk ManagementCross-Functional LeadershipAwarenessUnityEmpowerment
