Location: Sussex (London & South East travel)
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + overtime + bonus + benefits

The Opportunity:

We're looking for a Commissioning Engineer to join a specialist energy monitoring business delivering high-quality metering and data solutions. This is a field-based role with varied site work across London and the South East (occasional UK wide travel), working with major system integrators, OEMs and modern technologies.

You'll be part of a stable, employee-owned company that prioritises technical development, training, and long-term career growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Commission and configure energy monitoring systems and in-house products on-site
  • Integrate systems with Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • Install and configure utility meters (electricity, heat, water, gas)
  • Work with protocols including Modbus, M-Bus, and BACnet
  • Set up and troubleshoot IP-based network infrastructure
  • Ensure accurate data capture for monitoring and billing platforms
  • Diagnose and resolve integration and communication faults
  • Produce commissioning reports and technical documentation
Skills & Experience:
  • Experience with BMS, building controls, or system integration
  • Knowledge of metering systems and data logging
  • Experience with Modbus, M-Bus, and BACnet protocols
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Basic networking knowledge (IP, routers, switches)
  • Electrical or controls engineering background
  • Strong communication skills with client-facing experience
  • IT literate
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel
Benefits:
  • Company vehicle
  • Overtime paid at 1.5x standard rate
  • £3,600 annual employee ownership bonus (performance dependent)
  • Company pension
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Laptop and mobile phone
  • PPE and workwear provided
  • Travel expenses covered
  • Ongoing training and development (including Trend training)
Why Join:

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing, specialist business in the energy monitoring sector. Unlike traditional BMS roles, you'll gain exposure to metering, data systems, and modern integration technologies while working on diverse, high-profile projects.

With strong investment in training, a supportive team culture, and employee ownership, this role offers both technical development and long-term stability.
