About the Role

Chargebacks and Deductions Analyst Comp: $68k-82k DOE Position Overview We are partnering with a growing organization seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Chargeback and Deductions Analyst to join their Finance team. This role focuses on analyzing, disputing, and recovering customer deductions related to trade promotions, pricing, discounts, and allowances. This position plays a key role in protecting revenue, improving compliance with customer agreements, and strengthening cross-functional collaboration. The role reports to the Accounting & Revenue Manager. Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Close Assist with month-end close activities, including reconciliation of deduction balances and reporting of aged items Prepare general ledger journal entries and support the monthly accounting close Assist with accounting analysis related to reserves and accruals for discounts and allowances Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation as needed Customer Deductions & Recovery Analyze customer deductions and chargebacks to identify invalid or unauthorized claims Investigate discrepancies by comparing deductions against trade agreements, promotions, and pricing terms Prepare and submit detailed recovery claim packages, including supporting documentation Track, monitor, and report on dispute activity and recovery progress Maintain accurate records of open and resolved deductions within ERP and deduction management systems Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement Partner closely with Sales, Trade Marketing, Customer Service, and Accounts Receivable to validate deduction legitimacy Build and maintain relationships with customer Accounts Payable teams to facilitate resolution Recommend and support improvements to deduction management and recovery processes Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required 3–5 years of experience in deductions management, accounts receivable, trade spend analysis, or customer finance Prior experience supporting large retail or wholesale customers preferred Familiarity with common trade promotion and deduction practices Technical Skills Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, lookups) Experience working with ERP systems Exposure to deduction management tools is a plus Familiarity with customer portals and dispute workflows Key Skills & Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities Clear and effective written and verbal communication Ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative environment Customer-focused mindset with strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Solid understanding of financial controls and compliance Self-starter with a proactive, ownership-driven approach Preferred Experience Interpreting and analyzing trade promotion agreements or customer contracts Managing disputes through customer portals Experience with EDI deductions and retailer-specific compliance processes Exposure to AI-enabled solutions supporting deductions or analytics Working Environment Hybrid or fully remote work environment (Must live one of the following states: CA, CO, WA, TX, AZ, OR, NV, AR, MN,TN) Occasional overtime during month-end close or audit periods
