We are seeking a Steelmaking Intern to join our team in Pueblo, Colorado starting May 18th. This internship offers the opportunity to apply classroom learning to real-world challenges while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic, operational manufacturing environment. Over the summer, the intern will work closely with employees in operations, maintenance, and safety by asking questions, learning equipment processes, and reviewing existing practices to help develop clear, well-defined procedures. A primary focus of this role will be assisting with the development and improvement of equipment Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures within our steelmaking facility. The ideal candidate will be able to follow direction while also demonstrating initiative in a high-risk manufacturing environment. This internship will also provide valuable exposure to related areas such as engineering, planning, and scheduling. Collaborate with maintenance and operations employees to gather information on equipment, energy sources, and isolation points. Utilize LOTO software to create, edit, and maintain Lockout/Tagout procedures. Conduct equipment walkdowns with employees to verify details and ensure procedural accuracy. Review existing LOTO procedures and update them as necessary to reflect current conditions. Assist with the development of diagrams, labels, and visual aids to ensure procedures are clear, effective, and easy to follow. Requirements Pursuing a technical engineering degree Strong written and oral communication skills Computer literate in Microsoft Suite and Power BI Heavy industrial experience, preferred Be curious and eager/open to learning new skills Ability to organize and motivate teams for safe, high-quality results and maximum productivity, preferred Ability to work in a physically demanding manufacturing environment, which will include inside and outside environmental conditions Must hold a valid Colorado Driver’s License Term May-August 2026, following commencement of Spring Semester Compensation Undergraduate experience $24.00-$28.00 per hour Our total compensation package includes amazing benefits!
