About the role: A supportive SEND school in Bingley is seeking a dedicated Autism Specialist to join their team full-time from September. The school provides tailored provision for children and young people with autism, focusing on communication, emotional regulation, and independence. Through structured routines, adapted teaching approaches, and a nurturing environment, the school helps pupils build confidence and engage positively with learning. Key Responsibilities: Support the delivery of differentiated, autism-friendly learning by working alongside teaching staff to break down tasks and scaffold understanding. Reinforce key learning through structured approaches suited to autism, helping pupils access and engage with the curriculum. Use strategies such as visual supports, communication aids, modelling, and sensory-aware practices to maintain engagement and support participation. Promote positive behaviours and emotional regulation by providing consistent, calm support and helping pupils transition between activities effectively. Pre-requisites: Experience supporting children or young people with autism in schools, care settings, or similar environments. Strong understanding of autism and strategies that support communication, engagement, and sensory needs. Confidence using structured approaches and adapting learning to meet individual needs. Relevant qualifications such as Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN training, or equivalent experience.
