About the Role

Trim Engineer II Hyundai's North America Quality Center (NAQC) is looking for an Engineer II for the Trim Team   The Team: NAQC is the quality arm for Hyundai Motor Group's North American vehicle models. NAQC seeks to further Hyundai's goal of becoming the leading automotive manufacturer in North America by delivering uncompromising quality and exceeding consumer expectations.    The Position: The Trim Engineer II would focus on the continuous development and enhancement of trim systems for Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia vehicles by performing field and on-site investigations and root cause analysis regarding trim-related issues What You Will Do: Investigate and support the testing of interior and exterior trim/seat/body-related quality issues in Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia vehicles by responding to requests from Hyundai Motor Group, sales affiliates, vehicle assembly plants, and in cases of sudden increases in warranty claims Utilize subjective and objective data from field and on-site investigations to analyze and diagnose root causes of trim-related quality issues Propose and validate solutions pertaining to trim-related quality issues Benchmark competitive vehicle designs, diagnostic procedures, and technical service bulletins (TSBs) to research differences and enhance NAQC's systems and materials Identify market trends via customer feedback, external indices (e.g., J.D. Power, Consumer Reports), customer forums, and automotive syndicated studies Research, procure, and maintain new technologies, tools, and methods for data acquisition and analysis purposes  Manage schedules and coordinate with outsourced companies to ensure all deliverables are met according to contract requirements Maintain project schedules by assisting vendors with any arising questions and/or issues Travel up to 30% of the time, both domestically and internationally What You Will Bring to the Role: Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, automotive, or a related field of engineering 3+ years of experience working with trim systems QA/QC/QI experience Knowledge of interior and exterior trim/seat/and body-related fundamentals (i.e., NVH, lamp, switch, seat, latch, motor, and door) Familiarity with vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition tools (e.g., LMS, thermal loggers, CAN tools, various gauges, etc.), service manuals, shop equipment, and trim-related test equipment Root cause analysis skills Experience conducting field and on-site investigations Familiarity with performing testing, validation, research, and benchmarking activities/tasks concerning trim systems Excellent time management, self-management, and organization skills Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record   Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in mechanical, electrical, automotive, or a related field of engineering Knowledge of chassis fundamentals (i.e., NVH, brake systems, fuel systems, HVAC systems, steering systems, and suspension systems) What Hyundai Can Offer You: Zero-dollar Employee Premiums on Medical, Dental, and Vision for You and Your Family 100% Employer-paid Disability and Life Insurance Generous Paid Time Off, Including Vacation, Sick, and Abundant Holidays Competitive Salaries Range of Position: $80,000 ~ $93,000/Year
