Junior Restoration Engineer
Duties
- Undergo tape restoration projects
- Configure tape restoration equipment
- Write procedural documentation
- Be willing to work away, weekend and evenings if required
- Report to the data services manager
- Aid in developing restoration processes and software
Qualifications
- HND or Degree in computing, or equivalent
Experience/skills
Essential
- For both Windows, and Linux systems
- Install and configure O/S
- Configure network services
- Install hardware and drivers
- Install and configure programs
- Configure Raid systems
- Basic SQL databases querying
- Basic scripting, using Perl, Bash, VB, or Python
- Make cables, both network RJ45, and custom
Preferable
- Experience of configuring and administering backup to tape software e.g.,
TSM, BackupExec, Arcserve, Networker, Dataprotector, Netvault, Netbackup
- Advanced SQL databases querying
- Tape library configuration
- Tape drive configuration
- Use of Microsoft Visio
