Job Summary:
St. Matthew School, a vibrant PreK-8 Catholic elementary school committed to academic excellence and faith-based education, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated 7th/8th Grade Teacher for the 2025–2026 school year. The ideal candidate will serve as an 8th Grade Homeroom Teacher and teach:
- Two sections of 8th Grade Social Studies
- Two sections of 7th Grade Social Studies
- Two sections of 8th Grade Science
This role requires a passionate educator who is committed to fostering academic growth, faith formation, and leadership among middle school students during their pivotal transition to high school.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction and Curriculum:
- Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction in Social Studies and Science using research-based practices and a variety of instructional strategies.
- Design and implement dynamic lessons that promote critical thinking, collaboration, and real-world connections.
- Utilize data to differentiate instruction and assess student progress through formative and summative assessments.
- Integrate Catholic values and principles into daily instruction and classroom culture.
Classroom Leadership:
- Maintain a structured, respectful, and supportive classroom environment that promotes student learning and personal growth.
- Demonstrate effective classroom management skills grounded in consistency, fairness, and a growth mindset.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Serve as a main point of contact for 8th grade homeroom students and their families, fostering a supportive and communicative relationship.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians regarding academic progress, behavior, and upcoming events.
- Collaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular planning, student support strategies, and the coordination of 8th grade events (e.g., high school admissions, graduation, retreats, and special programs).
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field required
- Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certification in Elementary, Social Studies, Science, or Middle Level Education required.
- Minimum of 2 years teaching experience or equivalent experience preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for events and meetings.
