About the Role
</p>
<p><em>Rent Recovery & Income Officer</em></p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul>

<p>Maximise rent collection in line with organisational targets by making appropriate arrangements to recover rent arrears and enforce tenancy conditions, with a strong emphasis on early intervention and prevention.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Monitor tenants’ rent accounts, including parking accounts where applicable, and take prompt action in accordance with rent collection procedures to minimise debt and reduce the risk of homelessness.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Create and manage use and occupation accounts, ensuring the accurate transfer of payments and regular monitoring of cases.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Provide advice and guidance on housing-related benefits, welfare support, budgeting, and income maximisation, helping tenants access all benefits and financial assistance to which they are entitled.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant housing legislation, welfare benefits, and welfare reform changes, ensuring advice and practices remain compliant and effective.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Support vulnerable tenants by identifying additional needs and referring them to appropriate internal and external support services to help sustain tenancies and improve outcomes.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Prepare accurate arrears case reports and legal documentation, attend court hearings when required, and represent the organisation in rent arrears and possession proceedings.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Conduct interviews, telephone appointments, and home visits with tenants regarding rent payments, arrears recovery, and tenancy-related matters.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Work closely with housing management colleagues and other stakeholders to deliver coordinated and efficient services, ensuring customer records are accurately maintained and updated on relevant IT systems.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Participate in new tenancy sign-ups and early tenancy visits, providing clear advice on tenancy responsibilities, rent payment obligations, benefit entitlement, budgeting, and debt management support.</p>
