C&I Engineer (Control & Instrumentation)Near Basingstoke, UK (on-site role) OverviewI am currently recruiting for a Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer to join our client at a gas storage facility near Basingstoke. This is an exciting opportunity to work on critical energy infrastructure, supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of control systems within a high-integrity environment. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop control and instrumentation systems for gas storage operationsProduce and review technical documentation including P&IDs, control philosophies, and loop drawingsSupport installation, commissioning, and maintenance activitiesEnsure compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulationsWork closely with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, and electrical engineersProvide technical support for troubleshooting and system optimisationParticipate in hazard studies (e.g., HAZOP, SIL assessments) where required Essential RequirementsProven experience in the design of instrumentation and control systemsStrong understanding of control system architecture, field instrumentation, and industrial communication protocolsExperience working in hazardous area environments (e.g., oil & gas, energy, or similar sectors) Candidates must meet at least ONE of the following criteria:Hold CompEx 12A and 12B certificationBe Functional Safety certified (e.g. TÜV or equivalent)Demonstrate experience across the full lifecycle of control systems (design, implementation, commissioning, and operation) Desirable Skills & ExperienceFamiliarity with PLC/SCADA/DCS systemsKnowledge of IEC standards and functional safety lifecycleStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail What We OfferCompetitive salary and benefits packageOpportunity to work on critical infrastructureCareer development and training opportunities How to ApplyIf you are a dedicated C&I Engineer coming from a highly regulated background looking to take the next step in your career within the energy sector, I'd would love to hear from you.
