Software Engineering Tech Lead - Python | Azure | AI / Agentic Systems
Contract | London - Hybrid 1-2 days a month in the office if required
We're looking for a hands-on Software Engineering Tech Lead to drive the design and delivery of modern, AI-enabled platforms. This is a high-impact role combining deep engineering expertise with technical leadership across Python, Azure, and next-gen agentic systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of scalable, production-grade software systems
- Stay hands-on with coding in Python, setting engineering standards and best practices
- Architect and build AI / agentic solutions (LLM orchestration, tool integration, RAG pipelines)
- Define and implement robust cloud-native solutions on Azure
- Mentor engineers and provide technical direction across the team
- Own solution quality, performance, and maintainability in production
Key Requirements
- Strong hands-on Python engineering background (essential)
- Proven Azure production experience (AKS, Functions, App Service or similar)
- Experience designing and building AI /agentic systems, including:
- LLM orchestration
- Tool usage / function calling
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
- Evaluation and optimisation of AI systems
- Experience with microservices, APIs, and cloud-native architectures
- Strong stakeholder communication and leadership capability
Desirable
- Experience with frameworks such as LangChain / LangGraph
- Knowledge of MLOps, CI/CD, and containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Exposure to platform engineering or internal developer platforms
