Transport Planner<br><strong>Location:</strong> Saltley, Birmingham<br><strong>Salary:</strong> £30,000 per annum<br><strong>Hours:</strong> Full-time, starting at 10:00 AM<br><br>About the RoleWe are seeking a proactive and highly organised <strong>Transport Planner</strong> to join our transport operation in Saltley, Birmingham. This is a fast-paced and rewarding position responsible for the effective planning and management of daily customer and network collections across our fleet. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring operational efficiency, service excellence, and compliance while responding effectively to changing business demands.<br><br>This role is ideal for someone with previous pallet network experience who thrives under pressure and enjoys solving complex logistical challenges.<br><br>Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Plan and manage daily customer and network collections using a Transport Management System (TMS), including drag-and-drop scheduling and route mapping functionality.<br><br></li><ul><li>Optimise fleet utilisation by considering geographical locations, vehicle availability, collection closing times, and customer requirements.<br><br></li><li>Monitor daily volumes and adjust plans as necessary to maximise operational efficiency.<br><br></li><li>Liaise directly with drivers and operational teams to respond to last-minute changes and customer requests.<br><br></li><li>Balance service levels, operational costs, and legal compliance to deliver effective transport solutions across a mixed fleet.<br><br></li><li>Work closely with transport and warehouse teams to achieve productivity, service, and performance targets.<br><br></li><li>Ensure all planning activities support company KPIs and customer service objectives.<br><br></li><li>Complete any additional transport-related duties as required by management.<br><br></li></ul></ul>RequirementsEssential Skills & Experience<ul><li>Previous experience within a pallet network operation.<br><br></li><ul><li>Strong knowledge of Birmingham postcodes and surrounding geographical areas.<br><br></li><li>Experience in transport planning, route optimisation, or logistics coordination.<br><br></li><li>Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.<br><br></li><li>Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.<br><br></li><li>Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.<br><br></li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Excel.<br><br></li><li>Excellent spoken and written English.<br><br></li></ul></ul>Personal Attributes<ul><li>Self-motivated and able to work independently.<br><br></li><ul><li>Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise workloads.<br><br></li><li>Confident in influencing and working collaboratively with colleagues and drivers.<br><br></li><li>Flexible approach to working hours and business requirements.<br><br></li><li>Positive attitude with a commitment to delivering high levels of customer service.<br><br></li></ul></ul>What We Offer<ul><li>Competitive salary of £30,000 per annum.<br><br></li><ul><li>Supportive and collaborative working environment.<br><br></li><li>Career development and progression opportunities.<br><br></li><li>Varied and challenging role with real responsibility and impact.<br><br></li></ul></ul>
