<p> <strong>About the Role</strong></p>
<p> We are currently seeking an experienced <strong>HGV Fleet Workshop Chargehand</strong> to join our busy workshop operation in <strong>Wellingborough</strong>. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for a skilled HGV technician looking to take the next step into supervising day-to-day workshop activities while remaining actively involved in vehicle maintenance and repairs.</p>
<p> <strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Supervise and support a team of HGV technicians and apprentices</li>
<li>Lead daily workshop operations, allocating jobs and managing workflow</li>
<li>Carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on HGVs and trailers</li>
<li>Ensure vehicles are maintained in line with DVSA, MOT, and health & safety standards</li>
<li>Oversee MOT preparation, inspections, and defect rectification</li>
<li>Maintain high standards of housekeeping and compliance</li>
<li>Liaise with transport management to minimise vehicle downtime</li>
<li>Provide on-the-job training, guidance, and technical support to the team</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Requirements</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Proven experience as an HGV Technician or Workshop Supervisor/Chargehand</li>
<li>Relevant qualifications (Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent)</li>
<li>Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills</li>
<li>Knowledge of DVSA regulations and MOT standards</li>
<li>Leadership experience or the confidence to step into a supervisory role</li>
<li>Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities effectively</li>
<li>IRTEC qualification (desirable but not essential)</li>
<li>Full UK driving licence (HGV licence advantageous but not essential)</li>
</ul>
