We are leaders in<br />the areas of education, scholarship, research, innovation, and service.</p><p><br /><b>PROFESSOR IN THE PRACTICE OF CIVIL AND ARCHITECTURAL<br />ENGINEERING- All ranks</b></p><p><br />The Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering (CAE) of the College of Engineering<br />(CoE) at the University of Miami (UM) has an open position for a PROFESSOR IN THE<br />PRACTICE OF CIVIL AND ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING at ALL ranks.<br />Applications to fill this full-time, non-tenure track faculty position are being sought. The start<br />date for this appointment is anticipated to be August 15, 2026.</p><p><br />Minimum qualifications for this position are earned BS, MS and PhD degrees in civil or<br />architectural engineering or a closely related engineering discipline with a Professional<br />Engineering license or ability to obtain Professional Engineering licensure within 2 years.<br />Candidates with a minimum of 3 years of experience in industry and/or engineering education<br />are preferred. Candidates with professional practice in thermal, hydraulic and environmental<br />systems in building sciences are encouraged to apply. Demonstrated ability in communication,<br />interpersonal skills, collaboration, leadership, and student motivation are required attributes.</p><p></p><p>The expectation of the candidate is to have a primary teaching role and in addition take part in<br />departmental and University service. Individuals considering this position should have an<br />interest and ability to teach courses in undergraduate civil and architectural engineering,<br />including senior design capstone courses. Candidates are expected to serve in departmental<br />and/or university committees and professional societies. Candidates should have an interest to<br />undertake research related to engineering education and applied building systems; implement<br />new pedagogies such as active learning and AI literacy in civil and architectural engineering;<br />partake in university strategic initiatives such as U-Online programs by applying real-world<br />expertise to enhance course development, student mentorship, and cross-disciplinary<br />collaboration.
