Cover Supervisor Wakefield

About the role:

A welcoming school in Wakefield is seeking a reliable, adaptable, and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising lessons in the absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged and focused on their learning. In addition, this role will involve supporting pupils within a small nurture hub, including providing personal care where required. Flexibility is essential, as you will also support the school as a General Teaching Assistant when needed. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident individual who is passionate about supporting young people and making a positive difference within a school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise classes during teacher absences and manage classroom behaviour effectively.
• Deliver pre-set work and ensure students remain on task.
• Support pupils with additional needs within a small nurture hub setting.
• Provide personal care support in a respectful and professional manner.
• Assist class teachers with learning activities and classroom organisation.
• Promote positive behaviour, inclusion, and pupil wellbeing.
• Adapt to the varying needs of the school and provide general TA support when required.

Pre-requisites:

• Experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, or support setting.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• A caring, patient, and resilient approach.
• Confidence supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Willingness and ability to provide personal care.
• Flexibility to work across different year groups and roles within the school.
• An enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
• Two school-based references
