About the Role
Teaching Personnel is seeking experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work across a variety of secondary schools in Hastings.
This role is ideal for confident and proactive individuals who can support teaching and learning at a higher level, including leading small group sessions, delivering pre-planned lessons, and providing targeted support to students.
You will play an important role in helping students aged 11–16 engage with their learning while supporting teachers in maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of a teacher when required
Lead small group interventions and targeted support sessions
Provide 1:1 support to students who require additional help
Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
Support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) where appropriate
Promote positive behaviour and encourage student engagement
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
Requirements
HLTA qualification or equivalent experience supporting learning in schools
Previous experience working in a secondary school setting
Confidence delivering lessons and managing groups of students
Strong communication and behaviour management skills
A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
