About the Role
Construction Inspector/Field Construction Manager Location: Billings, MT to Minneapolis, MN Corridor (Travel Required) Overview Our growing infrastructure services client is seeking experienced Construction Inspectors/Field Construction Managers to support large-scale utility and civil infrastructure projects across the Upper Midwest. This role is responsible for overseeing construction activities, ensuring quality and compliance, coordinating with contractors, and collaborating closely with internal project teams throughout the construction lifecycle. This is not a traditional inspection-only position. Successful candidates will serve as an extension of the project management team, providing field leadership, contractor coordination, progress monitoring, issue resolution, and stakeholder communication to support successful project delivery. Key Responsibilities Perform field inspections of utility, telecommunications, civil, and infrastructure construction projects. Monitor contractor performance, productivity, workmanship, and compliance with project requirements. Coordinate daily activities with contractors, project managers, engineers, and construction teams. Identify and proactively resolve construction issues that may impact schedule, quality, safety, or project outcomes. Document construction progress, field observations, deficiencies, corrective actions, and project milestones. Participate in project meetings, site walks, pre-construction meetings, and contractor coordination sessions. Verify construction activities are completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, permits, and industry standards. Assist with schedule tracking and project execution to support on-time project delivery. Review and communicate field conditions, risks, and stakeholder concerns to project leadership. Support access coordination and communication with property owners, local stakeholders, contractors, and project partners as required. Collaborate closely with internal construction management teams to ensure consistent project execution across multiple project locations. Maintain accurate project records, inspection reports, photographs, and construction documentation. Required Qualifications 3+ years of construction inspection, construction management, project management, or field operations experience. Experience supporting utility, telecommunications, civil infrastructure, energy, transportation, or related construction projects. Strong understanding of construction methods, project documentation, and contractor management practices. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, and project documentation. Experience working directly with contractors and subcontractors in a field environment. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with distributed project teams. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout assigned project areas. Note: Flexibility and a willingness to step outside of the defined role at times are essential in this position.
