About the Role
Commercial Property | York | 10+ PQE | No Targets
Our client is a leading law firm in North Yorkshire and beyond, renowned for offering high-quality legal advice rooted in tradition. They represent landowners, landed estates, farmers, family businesses, trusts, charities, and private individuals. The firm prides itself on practical, down-to-earth advice supported by solid technical expertise, maintaining a more traditional, people-focused approach in contrast to many commercial firms driven by targets and profit. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team, working on diverse commercial property matters, including development, solar, renewable energy projects and estate work. The role offers an engaging mix of clients, including landed gentry and institutions, with a focus on providing practical solutions rather than legal jargon. The firm values quality, client satisfaction, and a positive working environment, encouraging learning and professional growth.
Responsibilities:
Managing a diverse portfolio of commercial property work, including development schemes, land transactions, and renewable energy projects
Advising landowners, charities, farmers, and institutions on property matters
Conducting site visits and liaising with agents
Providing practical, risk-based advice tailored to client needs
Collaborating with colleagues via brainstorming sessions and shared resources
Maintaining high standards of client care and communication
Requirements:
Ideally 10+ PQE in commercial property law
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
Experience working with landowners, estates, charities, or landed gentry would be desirable, but not essential for the role
Excellent client relationship skills and a practical approach to legal advice
Confident in managing varied, often complex land and property issues
Adept at multitasking and prioritising work effectively
Benefits and Culture:
No targets, with emphasis on quality work and client satisfaction
Very collaborative environment with regular brainstorming and team support
Flexible working options, including 3 days in the office and 2 WFH
Individual office spaces and personal secretaries for efficient working
Family-friendly atmosphere with dogs in the office
Opportunities for professional development, with a focus on learning and progression
Stable, profitable firm with a traditional yet collegiate culture
Regular client interactions through meetings and calls, with minimal BD and marketing required
Predominantly existing clients, fostering long-term relationships
Please note our advertisements use PQE and salary level purely as a guide. We are happy to consider applications from all candidates who are able to demonstrate the skills necessary to fulfil the role.
