About the Role
At Rutherford Briant, we are partnering with a highly regarded law firm seeking an Accounts Assistant to join their finance team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role will support the day-to-day operations of the accounts function, ensuring accurate processing and compliance within a professional services environment. As an Accounts Assistant, you will:
Accurately process client account receipts, payments, and billing transactions. Review bank statements daily and complete bank reconciliations. Process client and office payments via BACS and CHAPS. Post client and office cheques onto the accounts system and prepare banking. Support month-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met. Liaise with Partners, Fee Earners, and senior management to resolve queries. Ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules (SARs). Assist with supplier invoices, direct debits, and petty cash. Support the preparation of month-end management information and assist senior team members where required.
As an Accounts Assistant, you will need:
Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role. Experience within a legal or professional services environment is advantageous. Strong understanding of transactional finance processes and reconciliations. Good working knowledge of compliance and financial controls. Strong Excel skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with stakeholders across the business. The ability to work effectively within a team in an office-based environment.
