<p><strong>Assistant Engineering Manager</strong><br /><strong>Salary:</strong> £50,000 – £54,000 (DOE)<br /> <strong>Job Type:</strong> Full-Time<br /><strong>Location:</strong> Chichester<br /> <br /><strong>The Role of the Assistant Engineering Manager</strong><br />We are recruiting for an experienced <strong>Assistant Engineering Manager / Workshop Manager</strong> to support the day-to-day running of a busy, safety-critical workshop environment.<br />This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll be responsible for maintaining high engineering standards, supporting the Engineering Manager, and ensuring the fleet is safe, compliant, and reliable.<br /> <br /><strong>Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Engineering Manager</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Support the Engineering Manager in overseeing all workshop operations</li>
<li>Supervise and lead a team of Technicians and Engineers</li>
<li>Manage maintenance schedules, inspections, and defect rectification</li>
<li>Drive high standards of fleet reliability and vehicle availability</li>
<li>Assist with audits, reporting, and performance management</li>
<li>Promote a strong safety-first culture across the workshop</li>
</ul>
<p> <br /><strong>What We’re Looking For from the Assistant Engineering Manager</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Previous experience in a <strong>Workshop Manager / Supervisor / Senior Technician</strong> role within PSV, Bus, Coach or HGV</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of compliance and safety standards (TfL/DVSA)</li>
<li>Proven leadership or supervisory experience</li>
<li>Hands-on, proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills</li>
<li>Ability to work in a fast-paced, operational environment</li>
<li>NVQ Level 3 / IRTEC (or equivalent) desirable</li>
