About the Role
Position Summary
The Coater/Painter is responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing a variety of materials using industrial painting techniques. This role requires experience in powder coating and other finishing processes, along with a strong focus on quality, efficiency, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare parts and materials for coating, including cleaning, masking, blasting, and pre-treatment processes
Apply coatings using powder coat, wet paint, Cerakote, hydro dipping, and other finishing techniques
Set up and operate coating equipment such as spray guns, hoppers, and booth systems
Monitor coating processes to ensure proper thickness, adhesion, and finish quality
Inspect coated parts visually and with quality control tools to ensure specifications are met
Mix and adjust coatings for proper flow, viscosity, and coverage
Cure or bake coated parts according to material and process requirements
Load and unload parts onto fixtures or racks safely and efficiently
Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and minor repairs on coating equipment
Follow all safety guidelines, quality standards, and company procedures
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as needed
Provide professional and courteous interaction with team members, vendors, and customers
Skills and Experience
Qualifications
Strong background in powder coating and/or industrial painting
High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
Dependable, motivated, and team-oriented
Education & Experience
Minimum 2 years of coating, painting, or related manufacturing experience
High school diploma or GED preferred (or equivalent experience)
Forklift experience preferred
Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of coating systems, including thermosetting resins and surface preparation methods
Basic mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting skills
Ability to follow technical instructions and process guidelines
Basic math skills (measurements, ratios, and material calculations)
Strong problem-solving and attention to detail
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout the shift
Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes
Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and dust
Visual ability to inspect coatings and identify defects
