About the Role

Job Description Position Summary The Cellar Operator position oversees the daily operation of Cellar Equipment, strictly adhering to established work methods and safety protocols. The operator is also responsible for ensuring all processes consistently meet the highest quality standards, supporting an efficient, safe, and quality-driven production environment. Responsibilities Under moderate supervision, performs basic, routine Cellar and Barrel Room tasks including but not limited to: cleaning and sanitizing Cellar fittings, hoses, fixed process lines, tanks, barrels, and grape and wine processing equipment. Basic understanding of chemical additives and cleaners Basic understanding of N2/CO2/Argon/ SO2 Wine movements – set-up and movement of wine and juice to and from tanks, barrels and tanker trucks. Make additions to wine and juice after a confirmation of the calculations by a Cellar Supervisor or Manager. Operates all types of pumps including centrifugal, positive displacement, air pumps and other Cellar equipment. Measure and calculate routine workplace data. Understand and be an active participant in the 5S program. (Sort, Set in order, Standardize, Sweep, and Sustain). Responsible for compliance with CBI sustainability policies and practices which are economically viable, socially acceptable and environmentally sound. This is done by supporting programs at each location for conservation, energy efficiency, and recycling, which are critical for our operations to achieve tangible environmental results. Follow safe operating procedures, support safety programs and policies to safeguard personal safety, company property, environmental and team member’s safety. Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 21 years of age High School Diploma/ GED Minimum of 6 months of winery production experience Must be able to work various shifts and overtime as needed Must be able to operate machinery Must know how to use hand tools Must possess basic math skills Must be able to use D.O/O2 meters Able to wear half and full-face respirator Able to enter confine spaces to perform tasks Computer skills/ down load of scanners Must be flexible with scheduling and changing tasks due to business needs Preferred Qualifications Forklift certified operator with minimum of 2 years of experience; will work with two and four barrel racks and macro bins Prior winery cellar experience (3 – 6 months) Physical Requirements/Work Environment Must be able to stand, walk, sit Must be able to move up to 55 lbs Use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms Climb or balance stairs/ladders Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear Must have close vision, distant vision, and ability to adjust focus, peripheral vision Must be able to stand for extended periods at a time Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive a car and travel via plan/train as needed Works outdoors/indoors Works in warm/cold climates Works on wet surfaces Is exposed to loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals Works near moving, mechanical parts and lift truck traffic Location Soledad, California Additional Locations Job Type Full time Job Area Operations and Production The salary range for this role is: $22.16 - $32.56 This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. Our compensation is based on cost of labor. For remote locations or positions open to multiple locations, the pay range may reflect several US geographic markets, including the lowest geographic market minimum to the highest geographic market maximum. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
