OVERVIEW ➔ JOB TITLE: Sr. IBMi Full-Stack Systems Engineer; ➔ LOCATION: Remote (US-based); ➔ CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent; ➔ COMMITMENT: Full-Time; ➔ INDUSTRY: FinTech; ROLE SUMMARY YourCode is currently seeking, on behalf of its client, an experienced IBMi Full-Stack Systems Engineer to be responsible for the daily administration, monitoring, and support of an enterprise IBM Power Systems environment. The position oversees daily operations, system optimization, incident troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration across technical teams to maintain overall platform reliability, which includes managing IBM i hardware and storage, core operating system components, middleware platforms, and associated application integrations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ➔ Overseing daily IBM i (AS/400) system operations, including job queues, subsystems, backups, storage, and performance monitoring; ➔ Administering user profiles, access controls, security settings, and object-level authority; ➔ Configuring and monitoring replication technologies (logical and SAN-based), virtual backup media, alerts, and capacity thresholds; ➔ Providing expertise in networking protocols such as DNS, TCP/IP, and FTP; ➔ Applying system updates, including PTF groups, cumulative and Java patches, middleware updates, and OS upgrades; ➔ Managing middleware environments (e.g., WebSphere), including JVM configuration, deployments, and certificate/keystore maintenance; ➔ Supporting and troubleshooting Java-based and middleware applications on IBM i; ➔ Administering VTL systems for backup, recovery, and replication workflows; ➔ Monitoring system resources (CPU, memory, storage, I/O) using IBM i tooling and take corrective action as needed; ➔ Performing system backups and restores and supporting disaster recovery testing; ➔ Diagnosing issues across IBM i, network, and application layers, including connectivity, configurations, and job performance; ➔ Developing CL programs, SQL stored procedures, and automation scripts to improve operational efficiency; ➔ Executing DB2 for i performance tuning, including index analysis and query optimization; ➔ Enforcing security policies such as auditing, object-level security, encryption controls, and regulatory compliance; ➔ Conducting root-cause analysis and recommending improvements for stability and performance; ➔ Maintaining technical documentation, procedures, and runbooks; ➔ Completing operational assignments as directed by IT leadership; ➔ Supporting development teams with DB2 for i, SQL, stored procedures, APIs, and middleware integrations; ➔ Collaborating with network, security, virtualization, Windows, and database teams to ensure interoperability; ➔ Working with business continuity teams on disaster recovery planning and testing; ➔ Coordinating with vendors for service requests and complex issue resolution; ➔ Participating in cross-training and knowledge-sharing on IBM i tools and processes; ➔ Participating in after-hours/on-call rotations for critical support; ➔ Adjusting workload based on operational priorities or incidents; ➔ Performing additional duties in support of IT operations; KEY REQUIREMENTS ➔ Bachelor’s degree in a technical field/relevant experience; ➔ minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; ➔ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; ➔ Ability to work independently and in a team; ➔ Experience supporting IBM i / AS/400 environments, including modern Power Systems hardware and enterprise storage solutions; ➔ Proficiency with DB2 for i, SQL tuning, and index/query optimization; ➔ Familiarity with WebSphere or similar middleware, including JVM management and certificate administration; ➔ Experience with CL programming, DB2 SQL stored procedures, and IBM i automation techniques; ➔ Exposure to high-availability or logical replication solutions; ➔ Understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., FFIEC, NIST, SOC 2, PCI, GLBA) as they relate to system security and operational controls; ➔ Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills; Your expertise will help drive platform stability, operational excellence, and continuous innovation across the organization which as part of a team committed to delivering dependable, high-performance technology that enables mission-critical success will ensure a meaningful impact is made on the systems that keep our client’s business running every day.
