Under the motto „Building the Future, Together,“ our 2025/26 annual report highlights how collaboration improves HLRS’s ability to support its system users and society. We document factors that will define the coming years of the center’s growth, including construction of its new datacenter, HLRS III, its upcoming Herder supercomputer, the AI Factory HammerHAI, and a newly established Future Computing Group. An interview with HPC industry analyst Steve Conway explores exciting developments and current challenges in European supercomputing. Other articles explain applications of HLRS’s HPC resources for research related to space flight, turbulence simulation, and human health, and for the engineering of technologies that could reduce global dependency on fossil fuels.
